Do you know about personal wheelchair budgets?

Wheelchair userPersonal wheelchair budgets are being introduced and will replace the wheelchair voucher scheme. There has been a public consultation about extending the legal rights to have personal health budgets, including for people accessing wheelchair services. ‘Buses in Crisis’ report

Buses in CrisisThe report ‘Buses in Crisis’, produced by the Campaign for Better Transport, highlights the effects of the huge reduction in funding for buses in England and Wales. On average funding has decreased by 46% resulting in 3347 buses being reduced, altered or withdrawn, leading to an increased risk of loneliness and isolation for some members of the public.

Are you concerned about who has access to your confidential information?

hand holding a stethoscope over computer keyboard with a securitNHS Digital are introducing a new tool that people can use to opt out of their confidential patient information being used for reasons other than their individual care and treatment.This is part of a vision to improve patients’ trust and confidence in how data is looked after by the health and social care system, following the failure of the Care.data project two years ago. The national data opt-out will be available for the public online from 25th  May at https://digital.nhs.uk/services/national-data-opt-out-programme

For those who do not want to or cannot access the service digitally there will be also be a national telephone service available on 0300 303 5678.

Dementia Action Week (May 21st – 25th) event

Alzheimers SocietyAs one of the events taking place during Dementia Action Week (May 21st – 25th), there will be two free performances of ‘Don’t Leave Me Now’ – a play about dementia. The performances will take place at St Wilfrid’s Parish Hall, at 3pm and 6.30pm
