Are you able to help people with sight loss explore the options of getting on-line? Imagine how being able to access the internet could enhance their lives. Could you share your knowledge and enthusiasm to help people engage with technology? The Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) needs volunteers to show people how to use a computer, tablet or smart phone to get on-line.
Volunteers with great communication skills, patience and an interest in everyday computing technology are needed to support local blind and partially-sighted people who are feeling isolated from the benefits of these technologies, which we take for granted.

Stop Hate UK provides a 24 hour 7 days a week access to an independent and confidential helpline to aid victims and witnesses of hostility based on personal identity to report incidents, access advice and support and, when consent is given, provide referrals to both the police and other agencies throughout North Yorkshire.

A poll carried out by the charity ‘Campaign to End Loneliness’ suggests that one in five people over the age of 60 experience loneliness. A recent television programme highlighted the problem and provided insights into it. Click here to see a 90 year old’s experience.
Research commissioned by the Big Lunch project found that more than two thirds of adults in the UK experience some degree of loneliness.
