City of London National Fraud Intelligence Bureau has issued information about the risk of a scam involving the NHS Covid-19 Test and Trace procedure.

This information has now been circulated by the Yorkshire Community Messaging Service.

Are you aware of the proposed changes in NHS repeat prescriptions?

The local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is proposing changes to the way in which repeat prescriptions for medicines are being handled. As you can imagine, many patients are expressing concern about this. In order to clarify the situation, the Forum has invited a respresentative from the CCG to attend our next Forum meeting to explain what is proposed. July 5th 1948 – it’s 70 years since the NHS started

To mark the occasion, you are invited to a presentation entitled ‘The NHS is 70 – a national treasure we all need to take care of’. The speakers, who have over 30 years combined experience in Senior NHS Leadership roles, will be: Eve Hawkins – NHS Champion and Matt Walker – Parliamentary Spokesperson for Harrogate and Knaresborough Libdems, former A&E Manager at Harrogate Hospital.

The event will take place on Friday 12^th January 2018, 7pm at Christ Church, HG1 4SW £5 a ticket and a glass of mulled wine and nibbles.

Patients and staff shut out of NHS transformation plans

‘NHS England has told local health leaders not to reveal the plans to the public or the media until they are finalised and have been approved by their own officials first, according to published documents and a new analysis by the King’s Fund. The national body even told local managers to refuse applications from the media or the public to see the proposals under the Freedom of Information Act’. (Guardian 14.11.16). What protection do whistleblowers have?

Following our forum meeting on November 26th which suggested ways in which the principles of the NHS are being undermined, members expressed concern about how the the NHS could be protected. The presentation also highlighted the role whistleblowers play in alerting others to concerns about the NHS. But, what are the consequences for the individuals involved. Do they receive any protection?

Update

We had a an eye-opening meeting on Thursday November 26th when we found out what is happening to the NHS and the ways in which its principles have, and are, being undermined by successive governments. Following the showing of the DVD about the NHS -‘The Sell Off’, which exposed some of the covert strategies which suggest that the NHS is being privatised by the back door, there was a lively discussion about how patients could try to rescue the NHS.

New interactive map for dementia care

The government has just launched a new interactive map which demonstrates significant gaps in dementia care. This is the latest Government initiative to improve the way dementia sufferers are treated by the NHS.
