We thought we would start the year off with a lighter theme. Ray Barker’s talk will be about Nidd Gorge and Bilton and will also include a night study of the local wild life. We hope you will enjoy the talk.

Please note: In view of the proposed changes to NHS repeat prescription services, a representative of the local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will be giving a short presentation on how these changes could affect older people in the district.

The local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is proposing changes to the way in which repeat prescriptions for medicines are being handled. As you can imagine, many patients are expressing concern about this. In order to clarify the situation, the Forum has invited a respresentative from the CCG to attend our next Forum meeting to explain what is proposed. Dementia services in Harrogate and District gain Regional Award for Innovation

Congratulations to the dementia services in Harrogate and District which have been awarded the Yorkshire and Humber Dementia Quality Award, for the innovative approach that the local NHS has taken to make improvements for patients, their families and carers.

The Harrogate and Rural District Clinical Commissioning Group and Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) are working together to improve local detection, diagnosis and aftercare services for people with dementia, their families and carers. The award is in recognition of the way that the two organisations have worked with local GP practices to streamline the way patients with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia receive their routine reviews. The new Commissioning Group for healthcare

The Harrogate and Rural District Clinical Commissioning Group known as HaRD CCG was created in 2012 and one of its first public consultations was in relation to Mental Health Care for vulnerable adults. This afternoon’s presentation highlighted the work of the group to date and emphasised the need for people to get involved with shaping future healthcare provision.
