Extra funding for buses!

North Yorkshire County Council is to receive extra Government funding to support bus services.The authority now wants to hear the public’s thoughts on how to invest the cash. For further information, please follow this link.

Fancy a day trip?

At our July meeting, we had a lively discussion about transport provision in the Harrogate District. As well as finding out about a whole host of transport providers including Happy Wanderers, local taxis, HARCVS etc, we heard about ‘Vamooz’ – a new service provided by the Harrogate Bus Company. So, here are a few suggestions of day trips which might interest you.

Fancy a day out at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park? Or how about a trip to Backpool and the St Anne’s Kite Festival? These are just two of the the trips organised by Transdev bus company as part of their Vamooz project. To book tickets, download the VAMOOZ app onto an iPhone or Android phone then select the trip you want to purchase. One person can book for others if, for example, there are people who can’t access the app but a central organiser could do so and buy their tickets for them. Getting around and combatting loneliness and isolation …..

Join the Forum for their meeting on July 27th to find out how the over 50s are getting around. We have invited representatives from bus companies, a taxi company. North Yorkshire County Council, Happy Wanderers and more, to give an overview of the services they offer. Changes to supported bus services from April 2016

Following North Yorkshire County Council’s recent review and consultation in relation to supported Local Bus Services, the Executive Committee met on Tuesday 8 December 2015 and agreed the overall strategy set out in the report which can be found here.

It was agreed that the budget for supporting bus services will be reduced to £1.5m per annum from April 2016. To see the timetable information for the revised services follow this link.
